‘Native’ Magazine
Design for Native Magazine issues 3, 4 and a special edition with Wizkid, distributed globally.
The Native, founded in 2016 by Seni Saraki, is a website and publication for African Millennials focusing on music, style and art across the continent and diaspora.
Callum Stephenson Studio was invited to design three different issues of the printed magazine. The design of each issue celebrates the spirit, vibrancy and creativity of African music and culture.
Graphik Wide features as the headline typeface with Baskerville chosen for the body copy. The bold headline type contrasts against the more classical Baskerville in a dynamic fashion.
The images are displayed full bleed for maximum visual impact, enhanced with layered, printed, and rescanned elements. In one section, a scanned football shirt is integrated to add texture and depth to the photography.
